#the100dayproject (update and conclusion)

As I have mentioned a while ago, I have joined the #100daychallenge on Instagram (launched on April 19 by @elleluna). My project was to make and post a homemade Project Life type card* every single day, which I have done for the past 92 days! I only have 8 more to go to reach the end and I thought it would be a good time to share some here as well as write a few words about the experience...
I signed up very last minute because I was seeing a lot of people joining in, I was curious about it and I had been very inspired by Natalie Elphinstone (natalieelph on Instagram) who had done it with project life cards last year. My only hesitation was, because I know myself well, once I started I knew I would not let myself quit... so it was a big commitment.
Well, I did not miss a day (might have posted a bit late but no missed days) and here we are close to the finish line! I'll sum up my experience with some bullet points:
I really liked:
- using supplies from my stash (that I might have not used otherwise)
- doing something for myself, not as part of a Design Team assignment
- the amazing support I got on Instagram (which kept on growing as the challenge went)
- the small format that allowed for quick creations (sometimes!)
- finding inspiration in very different places
- the fun I had making them
- the variety of cards that I ended up making
- actually using them in my album!

I didn't really like:
- the feeling that I was sometimes repeating designs and the fear of repeating designs
- the time that it took to create everyday
- I don't think I experimented as much as I thought I would, probably due to time constraint
- the stress I was putting on myself some days to make it happen
- the fact that this project has such a huge following made it hard to feel a sense of community upon participants
In conclusion, this project really gave me the feeling that creativity IS like a muscle: the more you use it the more you get! I am very happy to have stayed the course even though it sometimes meant pushing myself. It is truly a rewarding exercise in many aspects.
Now I would like to be able to focus on other projects and possibly take a break but at the same time I am already thinking I'll probably be joining #the100dayproject again next year! Time permitting of course! :)
Thank you to all of you who have offered so much support through your likes, your heart eyes and your many kind words on Instagram! :) You don't realize it but it really makes a big difference in such a lengthy project.

* If you're wondering what these cards are for, google "Project Life" and you will see that it is a memory keeping system (developed by Becky Higgins) where you fill out pockets with photos and cards, either journaling cards or "filler" cards such as the ones above (with a decorative purpose).

  2. It's been awesome seeing your cards every day, Nathalie, and while I'll miss seeing them, I know you'll continue to inspire with other creative pursuits!
