October Gratitude in my Happy Album

Thanksgiving Day is a good day to be recording gratitudes and that's what I did yesterday. I took advantage of some downtime to work in my Happy Album, listing what I was thankful for in October. I used the Happy Album kit #23 just released this month and a few other embellishments (supply list below).
I decided to use both grid papers from the kit as a background on which I manually typed my journaling. I embellished mostly with stickers but also with die-cut letters and word. I really like how this project is shaping up to be a hybrid between a journal and a mini album.
You can see all my previous entries HERE.

September Gratitude in my Happy Album

Hello friends! I am back with another installment of my Gratitude Journal in the Happy Album. This time I used kit #21 and a few extra embellishments (see supply list at the bottom of the post). I liked the green and blue color combo of the kit but added some yellow/gold touches for warmth:
I created several visual triangles (my most used design principle), one with gold/yellow florals, one with my photos and... can you spot more?
I love these embellishments! Embossed AND foiled, they look so pretty and vintagey!
As always the journaling is pulled from my phone where I record (almost) daily gratitudes with the help of the Gratitude app. I type it on a manual typewriter after having decided my design and the placements of the elements.

August Gratitude in my Happy album

I am a little behind with this project but thanks to the Gratitude app, I have all the entries already on my phone. Plus I don't mind going back to August, at least in my mind, as it was full of travels and family time.
I used the Happy Album kit #20 and a few other things from Creative Memories (see supply list at the bottom). I purposefully chose to use a lot of yellow to represent this summer month and concentrated on pinks and gold for the rest of my spread.
As a fun interactive touch, I placed some photos into a pocket so you have to pull them out to see them. That said, this project is not so much about the photos but more about the words of gratitude, unlike my pocket pages.
Well except for this one, taken in Bellagio, Italy! How could I resist?! :) It was the perfect vertical element for this side of my spread!
I loved the laser cut embellishment seen above (part of the kit) and it actually was my starting point  for this project, inspiring my design and my color combination.

July Gratitude in my Happy Album

Hello friends! I am back after a short vacation in Europe to visit my family. I am sure you will see my photos (Alsace and Italy) in upcoming projects but today I am sharing a new spread in my Gratitude Journal:
I used the Happy Album kit #19 and a few extras from Creative Memories (supply list below). I am still exploring the "bujo" or "journal" style and with that in mind I incorporated kraft, vellum and  plain old notebook paper.
You can see in my first post about this project how I keep track of my (almost) daily gratitudes and how they are the focus of this project. They are simply listed here and I pair them with a couple of photos. By the way, I usually select photos that I won't use in my Project Life album so there is no duplicates.
Since lists (even manually typed) are not that visually exciting, I played a lot with layers, torn papers and contrast. I also created my own "embellishments" with circle punches.

June gratitude in my Happy Album

Hello friend, I'm glad you're here :) Today I am sharing my second spread in the Gratitude Journal I started last month (link to first post HERE). I am still recording big and small things I am grateful for almost daily on my phone and I transferred all my June entries onto these pages in my Happy Album:
I used the Happy album kit #18 almost exclusively except for the dark blue alphas and stickers from kit #17. For the title, I diecut the letters out of the cardstock included in the kit and, inspired by the touches of gold in the embellishments, decided to hand-paint their bottom third with (acrylic) gold paint. I love the result!
Just as with my first spread, the journaling is typed on my manual typewriter which requires me to mark the placement of all my papers and embellishments with pencil first, type around the marked spaces and then put back and adhere everything at the end.
It's probably becoming my most personal project to date and I am enjoying the "journal" approach with less emphasis on photos. I might try to do a handwritten page at some poing but I am not confortable with that yet!

My new Gratitude Journal in a Happy Album by CM

Hello friends and crafty peeps! I am here today to share a brand new project: A Gratitude Journal. I have been thinking about starting one for a bit and when Creative Memories recently sent me their new Happy Album with some kits it was the perfect motivation to get me started.
What? I will be using a Blush cover Happy Album and the monthly kits and supplies that Creative Memories sends me (affiliate link). The size of the album is very unique. Measuring 6.75x10 inches it makes me think of a Traveler's Notebook on steroids :)
I absolutely love the watercolor look of those green leaves from the Blend & Bloom pack!

How? I downloaded a (free) Gratitude app on my phone where I can record one or two things that I am grateful for each day once I am in bed at the end of the day. As I am sure you already know, there are many benefits to this exercise. I will then transfer this log onto my Journal.
When? I plan on creating (and sharing) one double page spread for each month.
As you can see, for this project, photos will not be taking center stage. It will naturally focus on journaling and with it, I am looking forward to explore the "bujo"/journal style which inspires me lately.
