Happy Halloween!

I created this card for the ScrapFit Workout #30 which was a color challenge (use lime green, purple, orange and black). Nikki Sivils Boo-tiful collection was perfect for it!

Then, I had to follow it with the Mini Workout #5 which was to create an embellishment with the scraps from Workout #30. I was greatly inspired by Vivian's recent post on Write Click Scrapbook and decided to make my own not so scary little monster.
I wish you all a fun Halloween and will be back next week to share some layouts!

Toot, Toot!!! I'm in a book!!!! :)

Look at what I just received in the mail! It is Kimber McGray's new book "175 Fresh Card Ideas" and on page 118: taadaa!!! My very first print publication!!! I am so, so excited about this!

I had created and submitted this card a year ago (almost to the day) when I was on Nikki Sivils design team and I had to be very patient but I can finally share it with you!
The book has a lot of card examples with instructions and some just for inspiration. Its nice feature is that it covers various skill levels and techniques. Don't hesitate to check it out! And thank you for letting me share my excitement!

tweet, tweet

I hope everyone had a great weekend. We finally got a little sun here in Southern Cal and after we said goodbye to Grandma and Grandpa who were here visiting for the past 2 weeks, I managed to go for a jog and even went rollerblading with DS1 in the afternoon. Much needed after all the restaurant outings and Grandma's cakes! ;)
Here is a card I created for the following challenges:
- ScrapFit Workout #23 ("handmade goodie")
I used Nikki's "Will He B the One" collection, plus stickers and it measures 4.5X4.5. The bird was hand cut from felt scraps to which I added stitches and I created the sentiment with my computer before hand cutting the "bubble" shape.

A bientôt!

It's time to say congrats and Merci! :)

After a full year assignment, this month marks the end of my term for the Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker Design Team. I wanted to congratulate the incoming team members (announced today here!) and thank Nikki and my co-designers publicly as they have all been a great pleasure to work with. I will always be proud to have been part of the launch of Nikki's very first collections! There were also quite a few firsts for me thanks to this wonderful opportunity: first projects gone to CHA, first projects in a manufacturer's catalog, first publication (still to come)... so needless to say, I am very grateful for the experience! THANK YOU NIKKI and all my Doghouse Diva friends!

And since, I do not like to post without any photo, I will share with you a little sneak of Nikki's upcoming CHA releases:
Blueberry Hill

A bientôt!

Father's Day Project: Chinese take-out with fortune cookies!

I just posted this tutorial on the Transparent Touches blog and thought that you might enjoy it here as well. I used Nikki Sivils Dan The Record Man collection for this entire project.

No, I won't be offering you a chow mein recipe (nevertheless I'll highly recommend this one from Jamie Oliver ;) but I'll show you how to make a fun and personalized gift for Father's Day which happens on June 2oth this year. So let's get started:

You will need:

For the container:
- a take out box (purchased mine from Michael's for less than $2)
- two identical 12x12 sheets of patterned papers
- ribbon, tag and whatever else you want to use to embellish it
For the cookies:
- 4" circles cut out of patterned papers (the amount depends on how many fortune cookies you want)
- a strong type of double sided tape
- cardstock to print the fortunes on

1/Gently take apart your take-out box by removing its handle. Trace and cut out four sides out of your 12X12 papers as shown below:

2/After you've glued your papers on the outside, make sure to recreate the holes and slits that you have covered up so that you can reassemble your box:

3/ Create a tag with your sentiment and/or embellish the box itself.

4/ For the fortunes, I asked my kids to tell me things they love about their Dad. I printed their sentences (such as "I love it when you take me fishing", "You're awesome Dad!" and such) onto the cardstock paper and cut them into strips:

5/You can find several tutorials for these paper cookies online but I will share the method I used here. Take one of your 4" circle and while gently folding it in half, pinch it only in the middle:

6/ Place a piece of double sided tape perpendicular to your fold as shown here:

7/ Then fold your circle in the opposite direction from your first fold and place your fortune inside the circle: (stay with me here!:)

8/ While holding the cookie as shown above, gently push on the crease you've created in #5 and glue together the pieces that meet (where you have placed your tape):

The paper will fold onto itself and become a little fortune cookie!

Place your fortune cookies into your container and I guarantee you smiles (from dads AND kids) on Father's Day!

"Idiot, pull up!"

I am hosting today on Nikki Sivils' blog and so I thought I would share with you one of my latest project using her new collection Will He B the 1. I have been wanting to create a page about our family favorite movie for a while and, with its yellow tickets, popcorn prints and pink papers, this collection was perfect!

Journaling: "Idiot, pull up", "I would like to buy a dumburgar", "Good one, Ponton!", "Youri the trainer who trains", "The weather outside... snip, snip", "No Nicole, not since the internet"... Yes, the Pink Panther (2006) might be our family favorite movie. After repeated viewings, we still crack up and many of Inspecteur Clouseau's lines have become staples in our house :)

And if you are interested, I would like to remind you that there are only a few days left to send in your application for Nikki's DT call! Details HERE.

Happy National Scrapbook Day (with a GIVEAWAY!)

Even though today is THE perfect day to scrap, I won't be able to because I will be running from an early band concert to two soccer games to an award ceremony! Crazy day ahead of me! But I do have something to share: a great giveaway offered by Nikki Sivils herself! Here's the deal:
Go to her website HERE and check her products then come back to tell me which is your favorite. Make sure that I have a way to contact you (blog link or email address) because at 8:00am (PST) on Monday, May 3rd I will randomly pick a winner from all the comments to this post and that lucky person will receive an entire collection from Nikki!!!!! How cool is that!? Fun way to celebrate the craft we all love, isn't it?!

And of course, I also have a Nikki Sivils project to show you. I created this Mother's Day card with the Ellie's Day Out collection:

And remember that you can get blog updates directly into your reader by becoming a follower :)
Toodeloo!

Another challenge, another collection!

I have to tell you about this new collection from Nikki Sivils: It is called "Will He B the 1" and it has a bright mix of red/pinks and yellows with fun elements like tickets, popcorn, ice-cream sundays and more (you can see it all here). It is great for date night but also for lots of other things! Here is the first card I made with it:

Lately, I have really been enjoying the challenges at Creative Promts 4 You (and did all of them for April!) and so this card is for challenge #12 which was to take an embellishment and enhance it to make a new one.

Oh, and be sure to come back on May 1st (Saturday), I will be celebrating National Scrapbook Day with an awesome giveaway!

A little upcycling with Nikki Sivils

Here is another little project I shared on the Nikki Sivils blog using her Bella Blue and Oscar Too collection and an empty brad container (I always keep this type of packaging for projects like this!).
This little ornament was made by cutting to size and inserting a photo placed in the forward part of the package and adding a piece of patterned paper behind it. Once closed, I added scallop stickers all around on the outside (also from Nikki Sivils) and embellished it with other paper elements from the same collection. I then finished with a ribbon to hang it.
It is hard to see on my photo but it has a lot of dimension!

Daddy's girl

I recently got to play with Nikki Sivils new Bella Blue and Oscar Too collection. It is pet themed but because of its versatility it also works great with other subjects as you can see below.

Supplies: patterned papers, stickers and corduroy brad: Nikki Sivils; alphabet: American Craft; felt flower: etsy.com

"Daddy's girl" is my lose interpretation of this great sketch by Liz Qualman from My Creative Scrapbook (rotated and shrunk a bit) and it is inspired by Creative Prompts 4 You challenge #10 (Spring is in the air!).
I'll be back tomorrow with more Bella Blue and Oscar Too.

Nikki Sivils+Transparent Touches=tags!

Here are a few tags I made mixing the Nikki Sivils Flaming Butterfly collection with some bracket transparencies from Transparent Touches ~yes, from my two favorite DTs ;)~ and I think they go great together!
My idea was to really use the see-thru aspect of the transparencies so I decided to only frame them (on both sides) and embellish but not to put anything behind the transparency. I think they will be very fun on some teacher's gifts.
I will be sharing them on Monday on Nikki's blog along with some other projects I have been working on, be sure to come back and check them out!

Card challenge and TTT crop!

I just finished this card for the SRM Stickers card challenge going on with their blog hop this week. I got my Nikki Sivils Ellie's Day Out collection and got to work on the sketch (below) by first putting it on its side. The result is a very girly card that will go great with a gift card!
Also, don't forget that the Transparent Touches Spring Bling Crop starts today! The challenges are already up!

Nikki Sivils Ellie's Day Out mini album

I recently received the brand new Ellie's Day Out collection from Nikki Sivils along with two other collections that I can't wait to start working with! When I first saw these papers, I thought of my darling niece who is always ready to strike a pose in front of the camera. I thought it would be fun to pair the papers from the 6X6 Paddie with a crown chipboard album to create this mini for her.
The funny thing I didn't know until I was done was that Nikki named this collection after her niece! Cute coincidence, isn't it?

I don't get to scrap girl pages too often and playing with these feminine papers, flowers and rhinestones was a treat for me!
"Little Fashionista"

8.5X11 Step by Step with Nikki Sivils "Willow Bee" collection

You probably already know that I like to scrapbook in various sizes and with this step by step originally made for the TTT blog, I wanted to encourage anyone who doesn't scrap in this size, to try or retry the 8.5X11 format. I believe that switching sizes actually gives me a creative boost.

Supplies:
- two colors of cardstock
- 3 patterned papers or 2 + journaling paper (you can purchase Nikki Sivils Willow Bee collection right HERE)
- alpha stickers
- embellishments such as buttons and stickers

1/ Cut your background cardstock to 8.5X11 if necessary, then cut and glue one piece of patterned paper measuring 9.5X7 on top of it:

2/ Cut second piece of cardstock to 7.75X4 as a mat for your photos. I think you can use anywhere between 1 and 3 photos with this design. I used 2. Position (don't glue yet) your mat with photos in the top third of your page.

3/ Cut a piece of patterned paper to 6X3.5 and slide it under your mat on the bottom portion of your page and adhere.

4/ Print (or write) your journaling on a piece about 3.5X3 and position it on the left part under your photos. Add another matching piece of journaling paper (1.5X3) on the top where the title will go. Glue everything down.

5/ Place your title and embellishments. And your page is complete!

"Douce France" was inspired by another Creative Prompt for you challenge (#5) which required to make a page about your country.
"Douce France" répond à un autre challenge du blog Creative Prompt for you (#5) qui demandait de faire une page sur son pays.

This is it!

Today is the big day! I am so glad you stopped by! If you are just starting to hop, make sure to visit Nikki Sivils, Jillibean Soup and Bella Blvd's blogs for a chance at some amazing prize packages!

And I hope you'll like this handmade giveaway I created especially for you! :)

I have been pretty crazy about Nikki's Pockets of Stickers and my Bind It all lately, so once again, I combined both to create this little binder which includes checklists to get you through your Spring cleaning this year (and every year). I don't know about you but I could use the motivation and having a list all prettied up like this is definitely going to help!

click on any photo to enlarge it

I used Nikki Sivils Pockets of Stickers-Brown curtain, Victoria's Street papers and a clear stamp from the North Pole Night collection.

You have all weekend to leave a comment below this post to participate in this giveaway (and I am open to international entries). I will randomly choose a winner on Monday morning. And now, make sure to hop on to the blogs of the other Willie-Bee Divas! I have seen some amazing giveaways!
